What would I be involved in during the lst year on the job? (Scope of Training)
What is the Career Path for this position? Are there other areas that people go into within the organization?
What level of supervision is involved and how are employees evaluated?
What qualifications are you seeking in candidates for this position? Or how can I best prepare myself for the occupation?
Do you see the jobs in this field changing over the next two years?
If so, what factors will impact change?
What do you consider one of the major achievements of your organization during the past year?
What kind of person would enjoy the occupation?
What do you look for in evaluating or reviewing a person’s resume?
If I want to find out more about your organization or industry where can I look?
ASK OTHER QUESTIONS WHICH WILL RESULT IN INFORMATION IMPORTANT TO
MAKING DECISIONS ABOUT POTENTIAL CAREER CHOICES.
CAREER DAY CHECKLIST
1) Resumes are preferred but not mandatory.
2) Dress to present yourself in a positive manner.
3) Study the Career Day Guide for employer information and location. Research the web sites of employers that interest you.
4) Rank those employers you wish to meet.
5) Make a preliminary tour of room to collect information from employers whose company/organization and/or job opening interests you. (Note which employers are busy.)
6) Skim collected information BRIEFLY.
7) Introduce yourself to an employer. Ask questions. Give resume if desired.
8) Get interviewer’s name, title, address and phone number (business card).
9) Thank employer for spending time with you.
10) Follow up!! Send thank you letters to all employers with whom you may seek further contact.
