Medical School: The Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT)  is required for allopathic and osteopathic schools.  The Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) is a standardized, multiple-choice examination designed to assess problem solving, critical thinking, and writing skills in addition to the examinee's knowledge of science concepts and principles prerequisite to the study of medicine. Scores are reported in each of the following areas: Verbal Reasoning, Physical Sciences, Writing Sample, Biological Sciences and Social and Behavioral Sciences.

MCAT Content

  • Natural sciences sections of MCAT reflect changes in medical education. Addition of the social and behavorial sciences section, Psychological, Social and Biological Foundations of Behavior, recognizes the importance of sociocultural and behavioral determinants of health and health rated outcomes. And the new Critical Analysis and Reasoning Skills section reflects the fact that medical schools want well-rounded applicants from a variety of backgrounds.
